Upholstered foot stool collections

Before the popularity of reclining chairs, settees and sofas individuals used a footstool or pouffe to recline or stretch out their legs after a long day. Nowadays, many antique footstools are available in peoples homes as they have survived to tell the tale of many years as they’ve been well cared for and the carved wood on which they stand have been preserved. As time passes and tastes and fabric styles change, footstools can be re-upholstered to suit the necessary needs of the client and some can be embellished with tapestry art or needlepoint work. I believe that a well preserved footstool is an art form in its self and add beauty to any room in which they sit.

With my own upholstered footstool collections, some are treasured for their beauty of craftsmanship and the carving detail to the wood, or ornate detailing to the footstool and others I love because of their shape, fabric and texture. A lot of antique dealers and individuals who treasure beautiful pieces of furniture have footstools or pouffes in their homes as they value the time and care spent on footstools.

From me to you, I offer you advice that you should have a footstool in your home to offer a focal point and depth into a room by using a number of different techniques, such a buttoning and fabric texture and patterns, and also offer the perfect finish to a sunday lunch and the necessary snooze after!
